EFU General Insurance Ltd. is offering Crop Loan Insurance in light of Government of Pakistan’s Crop Loan Insurance Framework/Scheme to cover the crop loans extended by the Banks/ institutions to the borrowers for the purpose of sowing, cultivating and harvesting of five major crops as prescribed by State Bank of Pakistan.

Crop Loan lending is protected through Crop Loan Insurance

EFU General through Crop Loan Insurance is providing cover to the banks/institutions in case the borrowers to whom crop loans have been disbursed are not able to pay back the outstanding crop loan, which they have obtained for the purpose of sowing, cultivating and harvesting of crops, due to the damage caused to the crops sowed, cultivated and transplanted arising from the occurrence of following natural disasters:

  • Drought
  • Frost
  • Damage to crops due to viral, bacterial, locust attack etc.
  • Excessive Rain
  • Flood
  • Cyclone
  • Windstorm
  • Fire
  • Lightning
Coverage of crop loan against 5 major crops which are Wheat, Cotton, Sugarcane, Maize and Rice
Coverage is based on declaring the affected area as “Calamity Affected” by the competent Provincial or Federal Authority
Coverage is from sowing of crop(s) till harvesting provided the crops are sowed, transplanted and harvested during the validity period of the policy
Cover is against borrower’s default in settling the outstanding crop loan with bank due to damage caused to the crops sowed, transplanted and harvested because of natural calamities
Bank and borrower both are beneficiaries of this scheme
Government supported Scheme thus aiding to the increase in agri-production by providing financial resources to the farmers through agri-credit
Bank is required to engage in an agreement with the EFU General Insurance Ltd.
Bank is required to share the loan information of the borrower with EFU General
